History of Dust Bunnies Away!
In 2001 Susan Melvin started cleaning farmhouses as a way to earn some extra income. When her excellent services started generating more referrals and business than Susan could handle by herself, Susan and Dani Melvin realized they had a successful business model and set out to build a company. Utilizing the skills Susan had learned doing good old fashioned farmhouse cleaning, Dust Bunnies Away! expanded into London, Ontario and started years of rapid expansion.
Susan discovered that too many cleaning companies in the market focused on only residential or commercial cleaning. Susan believes passionately in helping her clients with all aspects of their cleaning needs, whether it’s cleaning the residential home of small business owner, or being able to clean the carpets as well as the bathroom, Susan believes people look to Dust Bunnies Away! as their one stop cleaning solution company.
Several years of growth and expansion in and around the London market saw Susan take Dust Bunnies Away! to one of the largest cleaning companies in the London area with 2 branch offices in nearby Strathroy and St Thomas. Susan is proud of the hard work her cleaning teams have done enabling her to grow the business rapidly and successfully.
Throughout the growth of the company, Dani & Susan worked to create a company that exhibited excellence in all areas. Realizing that the best businesses are not created alone, Dust Bunnies Away! constantly sought out the help and advice of mentors and professionals. In 2009 Dust Bunnies Away! brought in Andrew de Boer, a successful local businessman, to oversee franchising the company.
Dust Bunnies Away! will expand their business into other cities and markets by providing new franchisees a proven business model that provides superior cleaning to clients each and every time!

Susan Melvin
Founder, Director of Philanthropy
After obtaining a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from the University of Western Ontario, Susan worked in several fields including psychology and real estate. Using her broad base of experience, Susan started Dust Bunnies Away! Always having the goal of future franchising in mind, Susan enlisted the help of many mentors and professional advisors to help her build a first class company.
Dani Melvin
President & Chief Operating Officer
After schooling at Fanshawe College and the University of Western Ontario, Dani worked with Direct Energy in the capacity as Director of Finance, overseeing all financial aspects of the company for the Province of Ontario. After 3 years and wanting a new challenge, Dani obtained her Financial Advisor certificates and Stockbrokers license and worked in the financial planning field. Realizing the potential of Dust Bunnies Away! Dani came on board full time in 2006.
Andrew de Boer
Director of Franchising
After obtaining his university Business degree, Andrew spent 10 years working for his father in law’s trucking company, rising through the ranks from Courier Driver to Director of Finance. Wanting to realize his dream of owning his own business, Andrew purchased a franchise in 2003 and quickly built that company into a local success story. In 2009 Andrew came on board with Dust Bunnies Away! to spearhead their franchise operations.
